Lady Flame

Dima Bilan's long-awaited new album Time is a River (Vremya reka) was released last month, and I will be doing a proper review of it in the next few days. The reason why I was so looking forward to this album was that it includes the Russian version of Dima's Eurovision song Never Let You Go. As it usually goes with song translations, the lyrics of the two versions don't mean the same thing; the Russian song is called Tak ustroyen etot mir, which translates as 'Like this world was created' or something, I should really ask someone. The album also has the Russian version of the ingeniously titled, but as yet unheard Lady Flame, which was originally going to be Dima's Eurovision entry. The Russian version is called Nevozmozhnoye vozmozhno which means 'Possibly impossible' or maybe it's the other way round . . . the grammar confuses me. Anyway, whatever it means, it's a good job they didn't use this song for Eurovision.

p.s. If anyone can properly translate these titles for me, let me know.

I'm rubbish

Sorry I've not posted in ages; I've been so busy with work and watching TV that I've not been able to motivate myself to write anything. I am going to do a full review of Magnate the new Yulia Savicheva album which came out in June, but for the time being here is my favourite song from the album.

Easy (Lyogkiye) has quite a different sound to the rest of the album, which rarely strays far from Yulia's trademark guitar pop. The song is more electronic and more modern – perhaps even more "t.A.T.u." But anyway, it is quite great, and the little instrumental bit between the first chorus and second verse is ace. And the word "smelly" in the chorus means 'audacious', children.
