Dima Bilan's intentions to launch in the West have been known for a while now. English versions of most of his latest album Vremya reka (Time is a river) have been circulating on certain Russian radio stations.It turns out Dima has been recording in America with none other than Timbaland. He performed one of his new Timbaland tracks, Number One Fan, at the recent MuzTV awards in Moscow. It's rubbish! It's generic R'n'B crap. He even mentions his name in it loads of times. Do they really think he will be able to break the tough American and British markets with a mediocre R'n'B Timbaland cast-off?

I do really like "Kosmos," though--is it going to be on an upcoming album? Has it already been released? It's not in English, and that's what's really throwing me...I can never keep track of what's out, what's from what, or anything in Russian music.

I think "Number One Fan" is a big mistake in choice for an international launch. It's Dima's worst song...Timbaland or not. I think a song as Kosmos or Lady Flame would have a much better chance. And also, he definitely needs to get a more trendy haircut and proper dance moves. He is moving the same way on all his performances. I really like Dima, I have all there is available out there music wise and I really hope he'll make it, but he needs to be prepared professionally. Or the UK and US music indudtries will CRUSH him like a fly in no-time. Look at the Italian singer Laura Pausini! Superbig in Latin speaking countries since a decade but boycotted by the English speaking countries, despite several attempts.
