They are called like this because they are giving you erection...

...as a Russian informed me.
In fact, the name of the slag band VIA Gra (Rus. ВИА Гра) is actually quite clever. VIA is a good old Soviet acronym for Vokal'no-instrumyental'nyy ansambl' which, as I'm sure you can work out, means 'Vocal and instrumental esemble'. This prefix was widely used in Soviet times, when most groups would prefix their name with it, and even today some still use it, however the more neutral gruppa (Rus. группа) - 'group' is preferred. In the language of the group's native Ukraine, Gra (Ukr. Гра, pronounced 'hra') means game.
Technically the name of the group is just 'Game', but this didn't prevent the company who make the drug Viagra from threatening VIA Gra's record company with legal action. In short, the American company do not hold the rights to the name Viagra in the Cyrillic (Russian) alphabet, so within Russia the group can call themselves ВИА Гра or Виагра. However they are forbidden to use their name in the Latin alphabet (which includes their web address), so they have the alternate name Nu Virgos for non-Cyrillic usage.
Via Gra has changed it's lineup more times than the Sugababes and Destiny's Child put together, but the fans are safe in the knowledge that the members are always pretty lasses with big breasts and small clothes. The current members are Vera Brezhneva and Nadya Granovskaya, both from Ukraine and Al'bina Dzhanabayeva from Southern Russia.
Much like the Pussycat
Imagine Girls Aloud meets the Pussycat Dolls.... and GA beat the shit out of them, then lez it up a bit whilst listening to Alcazar. That's VIA Gra.
[I have lots of MP3s on my other computer so I shall upload them later. For now, I only managaed to find one song and it is in English]
