Believe me I just don't care

So, I've been meaning to get round to making this post about Юлия Савичева (Yuliya Savicheva). 20-year old Yulia represented Russia in the 2004 Eurovision song Contest in Istambul. You remember, she was getting picked up and spun around by shirtless man with body paint. Anyway, her performance of Believe Me managed a mediocre 11th placing with a little help from Russia's lost territories friends.

After Eurovision Yulia returned to Russia where she began releasing a series of Russian language singles. Finally this year she released her debut album Высоко Vysoko (High), and it is rather good - by Russian standards it is excellent.

So here is most of the album:

Бежать, лететь Byezhat', lyetyet' (Run, fly)
Пока Poka (Bye)
Если в сердце живёт любовь Yesli v syerdtsye zhivyot lyubov' (If love lives in your heart)
Всё для тебя Vsyo dlya tyebya (Everything for you)
Я с тобой Ya s toboy (I'm with you)
Прощай моя любовь Proshchay moya lyubov' (Forgive me my love)

Hello! Welcome to RusskiPop - From Russia with Pop, a guide to the mysterious world of Russian popular music. Not unlike the motherland herself, the Russian pop scene is vast, multicultural, and a bit rubbish. Prepare to be bombarded with fake lesbians, questionable singing, and haircuts you thought went out of fashion in 1988. Davay!
